Jacob Zuma Trial And National Strike

31 July 2008 No Comment

Pietermaritzburg also has its share of problems.  On Monday and Tuesday the 4th and 5th August 2008 the trial of Mr Jacob Zuma the President of the ANC takes place in Pietermaritzburg.  It seems clear that many people will be converging on Pietermaritzburg in a show of solidarity with Mr Jacob Zuma.

The Taxi Associations in Pietermaritzburg have indicated that they will not be providing public transport to the Industrial areas of the Pietermaritzburg but will be attending the trial of Mr Jacob Zuma.  Consequently those employees who use taxi’s to and from their work places in all probability will not  be able to report for work.

Practically we suggest that you meet with your Shop Stewards or with your employees if you do not have Shop Stewards to find out from them how they will be affected by the withdrawal  of the Taxi Services on Monday and Tuesday the 4th and 5th of August 2008.

There are innovative ways of ensuring that your employees attend work.  However this largely depends on the co-operation of your employees – GOOD LUCK!!!
