New Director General in the Department of Labour
There’s a new Director General in the Department of Labour, Mzwanele Jimmy Manyi. He took office from 1st September 2009. Clearly one of his priorities will be the proper implementation of the Employment Equity Act. He has made this quiet clear when he has spoken as the chairperson of the Employment Equity Committee.
This is what he has said:
“You better touch our hand whilst we are still giving it”. “I want to warn them that the revolution will be a revolution of all black people”. “I am as angry as I was. I have not calmed down a bit. If we want to unite the people of this country this is the route to go”.
“There are going to be a lot more prosecutions now going on. Those who are not playing ball we will name and shame.”
“I would like to see a shareholder of a company that would not want to fire a CEO after they have paid out 10% of turnover as a fine”.
The message for employers’ is clear. Be afraid, be very afraid particularly when drawing up Employment Equity Plans and submitting reports to the Department of Labour.
Remember they are due 1st October 2009.

Dear Sir,
I would like to congradulate you with you appointment. With due respect if you keep your promise there are going to be a lot of employers that will face problems with the labour court. I’m presently busy with a dispute with my former employer and my case is at you office because they apealed to it. The case number is PD/4/13/10-49. I wish to ask you to look deep int this case before you rule in their favour. If you need more information in this case you can email me at: dzondojacob@gmail.com. PLEASE I ask you on behalf of my friends and aspecialy my black friends to fight this battle of our rights and equity in the work place for us because the employers just take an employee for granted.
Good luck Sir! We need people like you and our president for a better future.
Greetings.
Pieter Koekemoer.
